Located in Reading, Pennsylvania, Alvernia University is a thriving Catholic, Franciscan institution of higher education poised for continued growth. With a total enrollment of almost 3,000 undergraduate, graduate and adult learners in two Colleges (Arts & Sciences and Professional Programs) and the School of Graduate & Adult Education, Alvernia combines a liberal arts foundation with a broad range of academic and professional programs within a learning environment that is committed to service and ethical leadership and to doing well and doing good.
Alvernia University offers more than 50 fields of study in both liberal arts and professional programs, including seven Master and three Doctoral degree programs, multiple leadership offerings and substantive experiential and community engagement opportunities. Alvernia’s 114 full-time faculty, of whom 73% are tenured or tenure-track, are accomplished scholars and supportive mentors who are deeply committed to their students’ success. With a 13:1 student-to-faculty ratio and an average class size of fewer than 20 students, Alvernia students develop personal relationships with their professors and are substantively engaged inside the classroom, on campus and in the community.
The Provost of Alvernia University is the chief academic officer of the University, reporting directly to the President. The successful candidate:
- Is a passionate leader who is creative, collaborative, decisive and innovative;
- Holds an earned doctorate; has progressed through the faculty ranks; and is eligible for the rank of full professor;
- Has a proven record of success in academic administration at tuition-driven, comprehensive institutions with undergraduate and graduate offerings;
- Has substantive experience in:
- The development, implementation and assessment of academic programs;
- Information technology;
- Accreditation, both regional and specialized; and
- Diverse learning settings.
