Faculty Assistant Professor in Great Texts and Theology, Tenure Track

Baylor University Great Texts Program seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Theology to begin Fall 2022. Successful applicants will need to be able to teach literary, theological, and philosophical texts from a variety of historical periods. The Program is especially interested in applicants in Medieval Christian Thought or Black Intellectual Traditions, though other specializations will be welcomed. Applicants must have been awarded the Ph.D. or its equivalent in Theology or closely related field by August 1, 2022. Teaching load: 2/2. Enthusiasm for undergraduate education is essential. Salary is competitive and experience-related. Review of applications will begin on October 15, 2021 and continue until the position is filled. The complete application will include (1) a letter of application, (2) curriculum vitae, (3) transcripts, (4) writing sample, (5) three letters of recommendation, (6) a statement of teaching philosophy as it relates specifically to Baylor’s Great Texts Program, and (7) a response to Baylor’s Mission Statement. Interviews at the American Academy of Religion meeting in San Antonio in November 2021 will be by invitation.
