Administrative Director of Human Resources and Employee Relations
Bergen Community College, the No. 1 institution in New Jersey for associate degree graduates four years in a row, serving a diverse student body on its suburban campus, has a leadership opportunity for a Director of Human Resources and Employee Relations. This administrator serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer for the College and provides leadership, direction and strategic management for the College’s Human Resources and Payroll departments. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the Director provides guidance and direction to executive and senior administrators, the Board, faculty, staff, students and individuals involved with the College community regarding a wide range of matters of institutional importance, including performance management, employee training and development, staffing, workplace investigations, labor relations, recruitment, administering and interpreting collective bargaining agreements, compensation, legal matters, payroll, benefits administration, data integrity, compensation equity, budget management, organizational development and general administration and improvement of policies and procedures. As the institution’s Title IX Coordinator, supervises, oversees and manages compliance for all Title IX cases, investigations, processes and procedures. Managing a team of 10, the Director is responsible for overseeing the development of annual goals consistent with the College’s strategic plan and for the systematic assessment of programs, departments and services.
Master’s Degree with HR concentration or related field required; SHRM-CP or PHR certification strongly preferred; minimum of seven years of progressive leadership experience in labor relations, collective bargaining, benefits administration, recruitment, performance management, compensation, affirmative action, employee relations, talent development, organizational development and quality/process improvement; demonstrates understanding of the community college mission; possesses a strong understanding of the use of information technology to deliver, monitor and evaluate programs; excellent analytical ability, including the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents; exhibits strong skills in leadership, managing people, communication, customer and student focus, building relationships, organizing and planning;
demonstrated competency in budget and project management; demonstrates skill to work with a variety of computer software, database management, employee management software applications and technologically proficient in common office desktop software, cloud software and collaborative cloud platforms.
