The Arts & Humanities division is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time tenure track faculty position in the Communication Studies department.The Communication Studies faculty member is a human communication generalist who teaches a variety of courses including: public speaking, small group communication, interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, workplace communication, and survey courses. A typical teaching load consists of three five-credit courses plus at least five office hours per week. Non-teaching duties include advising students, participating in curriculum development and review, serving on college governance committees at all levels, providing consulting or facilitating services for the college community as needed, and serving as Department Chair as needed.
COMPREHENSIVE WAGE AND BENEFIT PACKAGE
Annual salary is based on a 176-day contract with a minimum of $60,951.40; beginning salary will be determined by the assessment of the candidate’s education and related experience. New hires cannot be placed above $65,354.92 unless exceptional circumstances prevail.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL DUTIES
- Teach courses at all levels within the Communication Studies program
- Organize and follow course plans for assigned courses that include approved course learning outcomes, course content, and evaluation/assessment criteria, and maintain course currency within the discipline.
- Provide up-to-date course syllabi that establish clear expectations and document course outcomes for students.
- Assess and evaluate student learning, and provide precise, timely, constructive, written, and verbal feedback to students regarding their learning, class performance, and professional preparation.
- Communicate actively with students and create a positive and respectful learning environment that engages all students in teaching and learning activities.
- Incorporate a variety of teaching and learning strategies, delivery modes, and innovative techniques, including the integration of technology and the latest research, to assist in the achievement and assessment of learning outcomes.
- Support student success and college pluralism/diversity goals and initiatives, and integrate activities into classes and departmental programs.
- Engage students in learning about and practicing information literacy as appropriate to the discipline.
Non-teaching responsibilities include:
- Participate in course, curriculum, and program assessment, review, and revision, including new course/credential development, integrating assessment results along with the latest research and aiming at continuous improvement.
- Engage in professional-development opportunities on-and-off campus
- Establish weekly office hours to advise prospective and continuing students and assist students with coursework and classroom related questions.
- Contribute to shared governance through participation and leadership on college/division/program committees and through individual projects.
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Speech, Communication, Communication Studies, or Speech Communication.
- Relevant graduate coursework successfully completed, or experience teaching the 100-200 college-level courses in human communication, particularly Intercultural Communication and Public Speaking.
- Ability to teach students with varying needs, including neurodiverse students, those with physical and learning disabilities, and those from differing socioeconomic, cultural backgrounds, and etc.
- Effective communication skills with students, peers, and supervisors.
- Effective in student success and retention in a multi-cultural, multi-ability classroom.
- Comprehension and successful implementation of concepts related to teaching and learning theory, student engagement, curriculum development, and assessment of learning outcomes.
- Ability to teach a wide range of courses.
- Effective teaching in classrooms at the college level in various modes (face-to-face, hybrid, online).
- Active involvement in campus governance, advising, and/or college-wide initiatives.

Tenure-Track Full-Time Faculty positions are eligible for relocation allowance.
