Administrative Testing Assistant
The Testing Assistant coordinates, schedules, and administers a variety of tests ensuring support of all the academic testing requirements of the College including placement, classroom, make-up, on-line, challenge proficiency, credit-by-examination, and special accommodations testing for Office of Specialized Services (OSS) students; Oversees the Assistive lab and works closely with the Office of Specialized Services; determines test eligibility by reviewing transcripts, test scores and waiver requests; manages inventory and receipt of testing materials; prepares and submits appropriate reports to management; facilitates reporting of placement test scores to Colleague/Datatel System; consults with faculty and students on testing policies, procedures and services; ensures the consistent application of all college policies and procedures pertaining to testing; provides training to staff and student aides; performs continuous quality review of testing activities and services; performs additional tasks or duties as assigned.
Required:Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Mathematics or another related discipline; minimum of 2-3 years of experience in test administration with emphasis on placement testing within a higher educational institution is preferred. Experience using Jobs Access with Speech (JAWS) and/or Kurzweil Educational Systems (Text to Speech Literacy) software programs a plus; Must exhibit strong interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills, excellent customer service skills, as well as relationship building, organizational and planning skills; Detail oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently with little to no supervision and as a team in a collaborative manner; Possess full knowledge and understanding of FERPA; Understands the handling of serious & confidential information under the FERPA laws; Familiarity with higher education policies informing educational testing, including familiarity with American Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; Possesses a strong understanding of the uses of information technology to deliver, monitor and evaluate programs and services for students and the ability to work collaboratively across various constituencies of the College; Must be able to work with a diverse population; Must have the ability to bend, lift and walk around assisting at computer stations for extended periods of time.
