Faculty Faculty Position in Theological Studies
Bethany Theological Seminary invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Theological Studies, beginning Fall 2020. Rank: open. PhD preferred; ABD considered.
The appointee will be expected to develop and teach an average of five graduate courses per year, including at least one online course per year, and offer one non-graduate course for the Brethren Academy biennially. These courses will include the introductory course in theological reflection as well as advanced courses in an area of expertise, which complements and expands the Seminary’s degree and certificate programs. We will consider a variety of areas of expertise. The following fields are of particular interest: theology and the arts, theopoetics, ecological theology, theology and science, peace studies, and intersectional theology.
Other duties will include: student advising, supervision of MA theses in the area of Theological Studies as needed, serving on at least one major institutional committee annually, participating in the recruitment of new students through interviews and informal contacts, regular participation in faculty meetings and other campus events, and opportunities for speaking engagements within the Church of the Brethren and other settings. Commitment to the mission and values of the Seminary is essential.
