Faculty Assistant Lecturer / Assistant Teaching Professor of English
Ball State University is seeking a full-time, non-tenure-track position for an Assistant Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of English to teach four classes each semester primarily in our award-winning, first-year writing program. This position will be a one-year contract with possibility of renewal.

Position Function: The successful candidate will teach four classes each semester primarily in our award-winning, first-year writing program. Instructors may also be assigned to teach courses in African American studies, English Education, literature, creative writing, applied linguistics, or professional writing depending on faculty expertise and departmental needs.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or related field from an accredited college or university by date of appointment and at least one year experience teaching first-year writing at the college level. (Rank/title: Assistant Lecturer with MA.)
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications: ABD or terminal degree in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or related field from an accredited college or university by date of appointment; three or more years’ experience teaching first- year writing at the college level; experience with teaching or scholarship in one or more of these areas: Creative Writing, English Education, African American Studies, Afro-Latinx Studies, Ethnic Studies, Diverse or Global Rhetorics, Raciolinguistics, and/or Antiracist Pedagogy.
