Administrative Principal and Chairperson, Burris Laboratory School

Burris Laboratory School is a public K-12 school which was established to provide a stellar educational environment in which pre-service teachers from Ball State University observe and provide learning opportunities for students with highly effective teachers using innovative instructional strategies aligned with Indiana standards. The school which is comprised of approximately 670 students, is a vibrant place for learning and experimentation. For example, middle school teachers are developing new experiential learning curriculum and there is a focus on school counselor and principal collaboration to support students’ social-emotional well-being. Burris is a top-ranked school that is bustling with the creative energy of students, faculty, staff, and families who collaboratively seek rigorous and engaging educational and extra-curricular student opportunities

Position Function: The Principal will provide instructional leadership and management of Burris Laboratory School. The Principal may serve as chairperson.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. Three years of teaching experience at the elementary, middle, or secondary school level; at least two years of administrative experience at the building level as the assistant principal or principal. Hold or be eligible to hold an Indiana principal’s license.

Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution. Experience working with university pre-service and/or student teachers.
