Introduction
The Department of Computer Graphics Technology at Purdue University has a full-time opening on the West Lafayette, Indiana campus, beginning in August 2019. This position is for an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Game Development and Design program. We grant Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral degrees and are a world-renowned public land grant institution. We are a research-intensive department focused on applied research that is heavily engaged with industry.

Our program is technically oriented and focused primarily on the engineering and design domains of the engineering, animation, design triad of game development. Historically, we have had our greatest placement success in the areas of programming, technical art, and technical direction with many alumni working within the highest echelons of our industry.

Principal Duties
The successful candidate for this position will teach and develop undergraduate courses, mentor students, actively promote a departmental culture of diversity and inclusion, and perform service for the department, university, and discipline. The candidate will be required to develop and teach a variety of courses that may include but are not limited to: game development, game programming, real-time rendering, simulation, and other subjects in the Game Development & Design curriculum. Qualifications
All candidates must hold a graduate degree – MFA, M.S., or M.A. – in a field related to game development; related fields include but are not limited to: computer science, computer graphics, programming, technical art, technical direction, information technology, game design, animation/modeling, virtual/augmented reality, engineering, technology, and other related disciplines.

This is a teaching oriented position. Coursework is intensely focused on group collaboration, active learning approaches, and industry engagement. As such, candidates must be committed to vigorous and innovative undergraduate and graduate teaching, maintaining an inclusive and diverse learning environment, industry engagement, curriculum/program building, and service to the game education community. Teaching diverse groups/diverse students is a strength of our program and a hard requirement for the position; to maintain and grow a culture of inclusion, candidates are expected to continuously work closely with student organizations that promote diversity and climate.
