San Francisco State University, Department of Accounting offers an exciting opportunity for a tenure-track position as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Accounting, beginning August 2022. We seek a colleague whose teaching and research interests include Business Law, Accounting Ethics and Taxation. We are especially interested in qualified candidates with a demonstrated commitment — through their research, teaching, and service — to the diversity and excellence of our academic community/department/program.   

The position’s primary teaching area is Business Law/ Accounting Ethics with Taxation as the secondary area.    

The SF State Department of Accounting offers a Master of Science in Accountancy degree and a BSBA degree with a concentration in Accounting. Accounting is one of nine departments in the College of Business and has 18 full time faculty, approximately 39 MSA students, and 700 undergraduate accounting majors. Our students represent more than 100 nationalities and reflect the rich cultural and economic diversity of the Bay Area. Responsibilities: The position requires graduate and undergraduate teaching in Business Law/ Accounting Ethics as the primary area with Taxation as the secondary area, mentoring and advising graduate and undergraduate students, developing an active ongoing scholarship program in one’s area of specialty, and ongoing committee and service assignments. Qualifications:

Required:

  • Ph.D. degree in Accounting with specializations in Business Law/Tax/Accounting Ethics or a J.D. and L.L.M. with a specialty in a related area. All candidates’ degrees must be from an AACSB-accredited program or a nationally recognized law school. Certifications such as CPA, CMA, CIA, or CISA, are desirable. Terminal degree must be completed by the first day of employment.

Preferred:

  • Teaching evaluations and/or other evidence of teaching contributions in the areas of Business Law, Accounting Ethics and Taxation
  • Active record of scholarship related to specialty area
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate inclusion, diversity, and educational equity in teaching, and/or scholarship/creative works
  • Experience teaching and working closely with students from historically under-represented communities
  • Record of contributing to collegial, supportive and collaborative work environments
