Buffalo State, State University of New York, seeks candidates for the position of Senior Counselor / Psychologist
SUNY Buffalo State College (Buffalo, NY) seeks Senior Counselor/Psychologist to provide clinical assessment and intervention to students seeking counseling services. Provide individual and group work as needed. Provide lethality assessment and referral, crisis consultation, and support coordination for students. Perform outreach and research regarding student development issues; provide ongoing training or staff development on campus; demonstrate sensitivity to cultural and diversity issues; support college’s strategic directions and serve the Buffalo State College community; and perform other duties as assigned.
Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited program and completed internship. Full license (or license eligible) as a psychologist in the State of New York within one year of hire date. One (1) year of experience in crisis intervention and consultation and experience in providing outreach to campus communities, particularly underserved and vulnerable populations. Demonstrated knowledge and skills in time-limited psychotherapy. Ability to work at a fast pace and handle spontaneous work demands and maintaining positive and healthy perspectives and relationships. Interest and expertise working with diverse students (e.g., GLBT, students of color).
