Position Description: Full-time faculty position (9-month academic appointment with summer stipend) as Associate Dean(CVPA Academic Affairs)/ Associate Professor/Full Professor.
Date of expected hire: July 1, 2022 (start date negotiable)

Syracuse University College of Visual and Performing Arts invites applications for the position of Associate Dean (CVPA Academic Affairs)/ Associate Professor/Full Professor. This position plays a significant role on the College leadership team, working with the dean, the associate dean of Research, Graduate Studies & Internationalization, director of budget and planning, and seven academic chairs/directors to provide academic leadership for the College. The College is comprised of the following academic units: School of Art, Department of Creative Arts Therapy, Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies, School of Design, Department of Drama, Setnor School of Music, and the Department of Transmedia.
The Associate Dean (CVPA Academic Affairs)/ Associate Professor/Full Professor is responsible for leading and collaborating with faculty leadership in developing, articulating, and carrying out the academic vision for each of the College’s 42 undergraduate and 17 graduate programs. This includes oversight of the Office of Academic and Career Advising; curriculum, accreditation and assessment of academic programs (e.g., NASAD, NASM and Middle States Commission on Higher Education) and internal program reviews. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs is responsible for addressing students’ needs such as grade appeals and other pertinent issues while also overseeing summer and online course offerings. Additionally, the Associate Dean(CVPA Academic Affairs)/ Associate Professor/Full Professor collaborates with the dean on full-time and part-time faculty searches and hires; tenure and promotion review; annual post-tenure and non-tenure-track faculty merit performance review; academic policies and procedures; and other special projects. The Associate Dean(CVPA Academic Affairs)/ Associate Professor/Full Professor also represents the College on the University-wide Senior Associate Deans Council.
The College is seeking a dynamic leader who brings passion and an understanding of the convergent disciplines and activities that fueled the College’s success and visibility in a large, complex academic environment. Candidates must have earned a terminal degree in one of the College’s seven academic disciplines and a record of distinction in research and creative activity, teaching, and service that merits a tenured appointment. The ideal candidate must also have at least four years of academic administrative experience establishing and maintaining robust academic procedures and processes. Additionally, candidates should have exceptionally strong and timely communication, analytical and leadership skills, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
