Faculty Instructor, Committee on Conceptual and Historical Studies of Science

The University of Chicago’s Committee on Conceptual and Historical Studies of Science invites applications for a position as Instructor beginning as early as September 1, 2024, for a two-year nonrenewable term. Applicants should have received a PhD by April 1, 2023 and within the last five years. They should not already hold a tenure-track position. Expertise should be in the area of History of Science. Applications are welcome from scholars specializing in any period and area. This is a research and teaching post-doctoral position, requiring two courses be taught in the academic year; Chicago is on the quarter system, with three terms to the academic year. The courses the instructor would offer each year would probably be one self-designed course in their field of interest and a second taught within our “Science, Culture, and Society” core sequence, within any of the three time periods. Chicago’s programs are quite interdisciplinary, and candidates should be ready to interact with faculty and students from an array of different specialties.
