The Department of Psychology at UCLA seeks applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant or early associate professor position with expertise in quantitative psychology. Requirements for the position include: (1) a Ph.D. in quantitative psychology or a closely related data science discipline; (2) a productive research program focusing on quantitative methods; (3) a demonstrated interest in collaboration with psychological researchers; and (4) commitment to quality teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate level.
The topic of quantitative focus is open and should complement the Department’s existing strengths. Accordingly, preference will be given to individuals whose specialization has broad application and connection to research in the Department. Special attention will be given to candidates with expertise in the development of methods for clustering, learning, and prediction based on large-scale data. Other possible areas of specialization include, but are not limited to, generalized linear models, latent variable models, research methods and design, and statistical modeling of psychological or neurobiological data. Candidates at the associate professor level should have a record of involvement in external funding. Individuals with a history of mentoring students under-represented in the sciences are encouraged to apply and to describe their experience in a cover letter.
The quantitative psychology program at UCLA currently has five core faculty and a cohort of active doctoral students. Quantitative faculty have ongoing collaborations with researchers within the Department of Psychology and with faculty across campus, and UCLA offers a vibrant academic community with a wealth of collaborative opportunities. UCLA is centrally located in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles and offers close proximity to the many amenities available in Southern California.
