The UCSF Health Innovation Via Engineering (HIVE) Initiative (engineering.ucsf.edu) is seeking visionary engineers and scientists to join our vibrant and collaborative research community. This open-rank, faculty position in the In Residence or Ladder series is part of a multiyear initiative to foster equity and inclusion in bioengineering research and to promote the success of our diverse student population. Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. at the time of hire, to have demonstrated significant research accomplishment and potential, and to be committed to the mentorship of students – particularly students from groups that are underrepresented in bioengineering and biomedical sciences. Candidate’s application materials must list qualifications (or if pending) upon submission.
Candidates working in all areas of bioengineering are welcome to apply. Depending on the area of research specialization, the successful candidate will be appointed in the department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic sciences and/or another basic science or clinical department at UCSF.
The successful candidate will be expected to establish a dynamic and interactive research program, to participate in our top-ranked UCSF/UC Berkeley graduate program as well as other interdisciplinary graduate programs (see https://graduate.ucsf.edu/list-programs), to excel at teaching and inclusive mentoring, and to participate in activities that promote equity and inclusion. Faculty appointment will be made at a professorial rank commensurate with current academic standing.
