Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Division of Hematology in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Board certification in pediatric hematology/oncology (preferred) or medical hematology.
Applicants must have demonstrated excellence in education, research, and clinical care.
The CHOP Comprehensive Center for the Cure of Sickle Cell Disease and Other Red Blood Cell Disorders provides comprehensive care for patients with sickle cell disease and basic, translational and clinical research into these disorders.
The successful applicant will have a national reputation in research involving patients with sickle cell disease, program administration skills, and commitment to direct and grow a clinical program, including interaction with patient advocacy groups. Significant research and clinical resources, space for the research and clinical programs and protected time will be provided to the successful candidate.
Teaching responsibilities may include teaching medical students, pediatric residents and pediatric hematology/oncology fellows.
Clinical responsibilities may include the treatment of children and adolescents with a wide range of hematologic disorders, as well as oversight of clinical services in the Sickle Cell Program.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include leading the Division’s clinical research program in hemoglobinopathies.
Administrative responsibilities will include administration of the Sickle Cell Center and maintaining liaisons with government entities, CHOP leadership and the sickle cell disease community.
