Faculty Tenure-Track Position in Plant Biology

The Department of Biology at the University of Pennsylvania invites applicants for a tenure-track position in Plant Biology at the level of Assistant Professor. We are especially interested in those with an ecological or evolutionary focus using modern molecular biology techniques, and/or statistical methods and modeling, to understand how plants or plant communities interact with their environment and respond to environmental change. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: mechanisms and adaptive significance of interspecies and interkingdom communication, including plant-microbe interactions; agents of natural selection in wild plant populations; and genetic and epigenetic mechanisms responsible for plasticity, robustness and adaptation. The anticipated start date for this position is July 2020.

Candidates are expected to have demonstrated excellence and productivity in research and will be expected to excel in undergraduate and graduate teaching. Please include experience with, and plans for, enhancing recruitment, retention, mentoring, and overall success of a diverse student body and research team within the teaching and research statements. Candidates should also submit a short-annotated description of up to five publications, and at least three letters of recommendation. Review of applicants will begin October 1, 2019 and will continue until the position is filled.
