Faculty Lecturer Position in Small Animal Internal Medicine

The Department of Clinical Sciences and Advanced Medicine, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Pennsylvania is seeking applications for a Lecturer in Small Animal Internal Medicine.
The position is ideally suited for recent graduates of an Internal Medicine Residency program or for others seeking to transition into an academic career. The successful candidate will spend 9 months of the academic year providing clinical service in Ryan Veterinary Hospital and two months of protected academic time for board exam study or research endeavors. The lectureship will be a one-year, potentially renewable appointment, optimally starting no later than July 1, 2018.
The position primarily involves clinical service and teaching in a busy 24/7 university teaching hospital. Clinical service responsibilities will include provision of patient care and supervision of day-to-day operations of the Internal Medicine service. Teaching responsibilities will include small group and didactic instruction of veterinary students rotating through the service and mentoring of internal medicine residents. In addition to student rounds and separate clinician rounds, the medicine section holds two different weekly journal clubs, board review lectures, and chalk talks. The different sections of the hospital offer additional academic rounds. The proximity of the Veterinary School to the Medical School fosters numerous collaborative research and clinical endeavors. Opportunity exists to participate in collaborative research projects within and outside the School of Veterinary Medicine.
