Faculty Assistant Professor, Adult Education for Equity in Organizations and Communities
The Department of Leadership, Higher and Adult Education (LHAE) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Adult Education for Equity in Organizations and Communities. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2022 or shortly thereafter.
Applicants must have earned a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Adult Education, Community Development, or a related discipline by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance existing strengths in LHAE’s Adult Education and Community Development (AECD) program, and who are able to contribute to AECD program areas at the graduate level. The successful candidate will also be expected to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program. We are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrated research expertise, including an established or emerging research program, that is focused on adult education for equity in organizational and/or community settings. While priority is given to the scholarly area listed above, we also welcome applicants whose adult education scholarship, community-building expertise, research and/or teaching is in one or more of the following areas: environmental justice, anti-Black racism, Indigenous knowledge, and workplace training/organizational development.
Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence which can be demonstrated by a record of publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees of high standing.
Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier (with required materials outlined below) submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach introductory and advanced graduate level courses and supervise graduate students in AECD’s graduate degree programs (MA, MEd, PhD). The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the scholarly community and service work of the AECD program, LHAE, OISE, and the University as a whole.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
