Faculty Associate Lecturer / Lecturer, Contemporary African Diaspora Dance Forms
The UW-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts invites applicants for the position of Associate Lecturer or Lecturer to teach courses in the Dance Department beginning in the Fall 2019 semester. This is a nine-month (academic year), fixed terminal appointment.
The Associate Lecturer/Lecturer will teach undergraduate courses in one or more of the following: Contemporary African diasporic forms of Hip-Hop, Jazz and Tap. Candidates will also be expected to create works on student dancers for faculty/guest concerts. In addition, they should maintain academic and/or creative research and professional contacts with local, state and national associations. Further opportunities may include teaching other courses related to areas of expertise

Qualified candidates must possess a terminal degree (MFA in Dance or PhD in Dance, Performing Arts or a related field) by the start of the appointment. In addition, qualified candidates must possess a minimum of one year of teaching experience in higher education. Preferred qualifications for the position include experience in teaching Contemporary African diasporic dance forms; an artistic practice with an emphasis on community engagement and/or social justice; and experience/practice in somatic modalities
