Faculty Communication Skills Instructor
The Virginia Tech School of Communication invites applications for a one-year nontenure-track appointment (with potential for renewal) to begin August 2021. The instructor will teach Communication Skills, a two-semester course in written and oral communication for freshmen. The instructor will teach four classes per semester and use a common syllabus and texts. Instructors provide academic advising to communication majors enrolled in their courses.
Applicants must have a Master’s Degree in communication or a related discipline and experience teaching communication and interpersonal skills. Applicants must have the ability to work effectively in a collaborative teaching team.
Preference will be given to applicants who have course work/experience in teaching written and oral communication to first-year students, demonstrated ability to incorporate technology into their teaching, and previous experience with incorporating portfolio-based assessment into course work.
