Position Overview

The School of Communication at The Ohio State University invites applications for a 9-month full time tenure-track assistant professor position to begin August 2025. The successful applicant will teach courses related to interpersonal communication, organizational communication, group dynamics, and/or intercultural communication. Specific instructional needs include Communication & Conflict, Intro to Organizational Communication, Intercultural Communication, Information Technology & Organizations, Communication Dynamics in Groups, International Perspectives on Communication, and Media & Terrorism. The assistant professor will be expected to actively engage in scholarly work; the area of research is open. We welcome applicants whose research complements and builds on our areas of strength, which include communication technology and society; health communication and social influence; mass communication uses and effects; and/or political communication and public opinion.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required: Candidates must be trained in communication or a closely aligned field and show promise of developing a national and international reputation doing theory-based empirical research. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. prior to August 2025.

Desired: Preference is given to applicants with a demonstrated record of publication in peer-reviewed journals as well as evidence of effective teaching. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to building an inclusive intellectual community, in line with OSU’s Shared Values.
